South St. Burger Edmonton review #yeg

I feel like I have been anticipating the opening of South St. Burger since I found out it was opening up in North Edmonton more than 6 months ago. Owned by the same company as New York Fries, if anything the mere thought of having New York Fries poutine that close to me, made me super excited.

To say it was extremely busy was an understatement. We were lucky to grab the last table available. The line up was long, but the customer service was great.

Our order

After reading over there menu a few times Kris and I decided we would each order a different burger and split them. I decided on The Nacho burger with poutine and Kris ordered the The Hawaiian burger with regular fries. Both kids had regular burgers and shared our sides.

No MSG

Before the order was placed we also had to inquire about their use of MSG as Kris can’t have it. To our delight we were told that they do not use MSG in their products.

Budget

For all of our food & drinks the total cost was $45.94. This was definitely on the higher end of cost. They do however offer a family combo for $32.95 + tax. This includes 4 – 4oz burgers, 2 large sides, and 4 drinks (pop or milk) bring that to $8.65/person for a meal out.

The verdict

While the flavours on the burger were great, unfortunately our burgers were dry. I can only hope that this was based on first week jitters. We will definitely be trying South St. Burger again in the future in hopes of having the perfect burger. The poutine however, as expected was delicious.
