There are many times in the past where excuses have won when I had planned on going to the gym. They cancelled my class. My gym closes at… It’s summer, I will go back in the winter. It’s too cold this winter I will go in the summer.
Aside from the fact that I yearn for the days where I will be able to fit into my pre-baby clothes, my family and my health are my biggest motivators. I want to live a long time and I want to do it without health complications. One of the few things that is going to help me with that is to get regular exercise. However, I also know myself and I know that I have to plan ahead so that I can make it happen.
These are some other suggestions that help keep me motivated and could also help you too.
- Make a plan for days & times that you are going to the gym and stick with it. It is especially hard when you have kids and have a busy life.
- Pre-pack your gym bag and have it ready by the door (don’t forget to include the water bottle and earphones)
- Find a work out partner. Agree to hold each other accountable and be each others support network.
With these plans I have found that I am more likely to go to the gym and have found my motivation to live a healthier lifestyle.
