Described as a “stunning Narnia like display” the amount of time and effort put into every Ice Castles location is pure dedication. This will be the first time this acre sized winter wonderland is in Canada, and to think it all started off as one mans backyard creation in Utah! Here are 9 things to know for the best experience at Ice Castles Edmonton.

The anticipated opening date for Ice Castles Edmonton is Wednesday Dec 30th and will remain open until March (weather pending of course) Days + hours of operation are:

Food and drinks are not allowed in Ice Castles Edmonton

Skip the stroller but bring a sled that you can pull! It’s easier to maneuver in the Ice Castles and the sometimes unpredictable walk ways! (Just remember no running) 

Parking is available at Hawrelak Park in the designated parking areas. You can also take ETS to Hawrelak Park (plan your trip here

 Due to the snowy and icy conditions it’s best to wear shoes or boots with good grips! 

Dressing warm is a must. As cold as it is outside it is definitely that cold on the inside too. If you have a little one that wants to explore, having mitts that won’t soak in the wetness is a must! This includes warm boots too. 

Take a bathroom break before you go in. The closest bathroom is by the skating pond. Walking there will take at least 30 minutes! (they now have portable bathrooms!) If it’s anything like my kids they generally have to go to the bathroom right when we get all bundled up. <— Story of my life…
