If you are looking for a place to camp but don’t want to venture too far Rainbow Valley Campground in Edmonton is the place to go. I didn’t know that it existed until a few summers ago when we were dying to go camping at the last minute. With our tent, camp stove, and everything else borrowed from a few people we went camping right in Edmonton.
Located along Whitemud creek they share a parking lot with Snow Valley. The campsite has 84 sites, with sites available to accommodate trailers, power & water hookups as well as tent site. Non-power sites range from $35.50-$37.00/night and power sites range from $39.00-$41.60/nights depending on if you camp in peak season or not. You will also find a decent size park in the campsite as well as walking trails close by making this a perfect family campground.
Not too noisy
I honestly thought that the noise of the city would be loud and obvious and make it feel like we weren’t camping. However, as soon as I was out sitting by the fire with the kids asleep in the tent I was amazed at how quiet it really was! Camping is also being out and one with nature and is what you make of it regardless of where you are. And we made it fun!
No car needed
This campground is also great for families that want to have that camping experience and may not have a car. You can take a cab to Rainbow Valley Campground or even take the bus. (How cool would that be with the kids?)
