Summer trips: Where to float and tube around Alberta

 

If you are looking for places to float or tube around Alberta, you’ve come to the right place. A few hidden gems with the end result being a nice float on a warm summers day! Before you go though, don’t forget the following to make your water experience the best one!

Whitecourt River Slides – Whitecourt 
Open 10am-9pm daily. 
Bring your own tubes and flotation toys. (None available to rent)

McLeod River Tubing – Whitecourt
Access to this site is located within Woodlands County. 
Bring 2 vehicles so you can leave one at the end to drive back yourself and your tubes!

South Saskatchewan River – Medicine Hat 
Enter at Echo Dale Regional Park-East on Holsom Road + end at Strathcona Island Park- Braemar Street.

Pembina River Tubing – Pembina Provincial Park 
Bring your own tube and blow up for $1 or rent tubes at the location. 
Can also pay for transportation or can bring 2 vehicles to leave one at the end to drive back
Age range of river float depends on the river level

Lazy Day Raft Rentals – Calgary 
Elbow River – Slow and good for younger families 
Bow River – Faster and colder. Better for experienced rafters. 
Bring your own raft or rent one. Life jackets are required. Two vehicles are required to get back. A shuttle also available for 4 or more people on a reserved basis.

Little Red Deer River – Red Lodge Park
Access tubing area by taking the Little Red Deer road just west Innisfail or by travelling west from Bowden until you reach Red Lodge Park.

Discovery Canyon – Beside RiverBend Golf and Recreation Area
Reopening after being closed for 2016 for upgrade and renovations the water is never deeper than 45cm (18″), on inflatable tubes and there is a spray pool at the bottom with a beach. Bring your own tube or rent one for $5 with a $15 deposit.

Start at the Rodeo grounds and float back to the campground while passing some beautiful views!
