Shopping for a bike can be expensive, however, one way to save money is to shop the Edmonton Bike Swap and this year it’s happening on Saturday, May 13th.
Taking place at Northlands in Hall A (7515-118ave) you can shop for bikes that have gone through a basic tech check for prices that range from $50-$4000 depending on the bike.
Shopping the Edmonton Bike Swap
You can shop for bikes from 2:30-4:00 pm, however in Edmonton people start lining up as early as 6:00 am. Yes the sale is that awesome and yes the deals are that great
*Consider volunteering for the Edmonton Bike Swap. Volunteer perks? Besides helping out at an awesome event you also get first dibs on the bikes!
Selling your bikes
Drop off for bike consignment is 8:00 am – 2:00 pm. Save yourself some time on the day of and pre-register your bike until April 25th using this form. Details needed are: manufacturer, model name-number, colour, serial number, AMA membership number, and selling price
Fee’s for selling your bike at the Edmonton Bike Swap include a $15 rack fee per bike (if you’re an AMA member you save $5/per bike) and 13% commission off the total amount owing.
Prices are set by you, and the key to selling is to price competitively! Be sure to include all the details about the bike (Upgrades, upkeep, original price paid etc.) Bikes also have to be immediately rideable.
If your bike hasn’t sold at the end of the day you will receive a call to come and pick your bike. They do have a 92% sale rate so chances are it will sell and your payment will be mailed via cheque.
Children’s bikes
The swap will have children’s bikes for purchase and if you have a children’s bike to consign it needs to be a better quality bike, that is not from a box store.
Donations of bikes
Have a bike to donate? You can do that between 8:00 am – 4:00 pm. Bikes that are donated stay in the city or it’s surrounding area to help those in need.
Admission & more
Admission to enter the bike swap is $2/person and kids 12 and under are free. Cash and debit are the only methods of payment that are accepted at the sale.
