Who knew there was so much free fruit available to be picked in Edmonton? Now finding that fruit just got a whole lot easier thanks to the new City of Edmonton Edible Fruit Trees Map.
With over 22,000 fruit trees available around Edmonton to be picked, having this new map available makes sense and makes it so that fruit that would otherwise go to waste is picked for consumption.
How the Edmonton Edible Fruit Trees Map works
When using the map, you can search specific areas so that you can see whats available in your community, on your side of the city of even all around Edmonton.
Fruits that are listed on the City of Edmonton Edible Fruit Trees Map include apples, cherries, pears, and saskatoons. The map also gives you the option to narrow down your search if you are looking for a specific fruit from the list.
What to bring for fruit picking
Whether you’re staying close or searching for fruit trees in another community don’t forget hats, sunglasses, sunscreen, and water. You will also need something to keep your newly picked fruit in.
Tip – Plan out your route for finding fruit to pick. Because the fruit trees are available on a first come first serve basis, there is a chance that someone has gotten there before you.
