Last night we had the chance to check out Magic of Lights at Castrol Raceway and it was amazing!
A new Holiday Tradition comprised of festive and vibrant LED illuminated displays celebrating the joy of the Holidays! A 2 km ‘drive through’ experience from the comfort of your own vehicle. Multiple holiday themes come to life with hundreds of thousands of sparkling lights! At every turn, and in every direction, the magical route is overflowing with spectacular light displays and animations including an amazing 200′ light tunnel.
As someone who loves to go for drives to see Christmas Lights, this experience was awesome (especially the tunnel of lights) and I’m sure you’ll think so too! Here are some things to know when going to Magic of Lights!
Getting there
Magic of Lights is put on at Castrol Raceway in Leduc County and 10 minutes from Edmonton! The address is AB-19, Leduc County, AB.
Driving through on your own
Open from 5pm-10pm every night until January 6th cars, limos, and busses can all drive through Magic of Lights.
The cost is $25/car, $50/limo, and $100/bus. If you purchase tickets online you also have the option to purchase a dash for an extra $20 – this will make you bypass the lineup! Don’t forget the hot chocolate and the Christmas music, you can tune into radio stations 88.7 and 92.5!
Bring a camera for the kids
Let the kids have the camera to take some pictures during the drive! The speed limit is 10/km and even slower when there are cars ahead of you making it the perfect opportunity to get some great pictures!

Horse Power Hayrides
Hayrides are pre-booked only, between 5:15-9:45 pm Friday-Sunday. Cost is $20/person (2 and under are free if sitting on your lap) fits up to 14 peoples and includes hot chocolate! You can also book the whole wagon for $280!
The ride is about 25 minutes so dress warm and make sure you’re face is covered! There are blankets available but I would bring your own too for extra warmth and this really is an experience only for those that will sit for the whole time because it does get pretty cold!

It’s in support of some awesome charities!
A portion of the proceeds from Magic of Lights will go towards supporting 630 CHED Santas Anonymous and The BlackGold Health Foundation. You can follow along on the Castrol Raceway Facebook page to stay up to date on this fun and exciting holiday light display!
We can’t wait to go through again with the kids and make Magic of Lights one of our new Christmas traditions!

Took my grandson’s tonight to find out it was closed. No where does it say that it would be closed if it’s below-30. Would have been nice to know that before we went out . What a waste or time and gas . Not impressed !
