4 tips for taking the kids to Santa’s Parade of Lights in Edmonton 2017

Tomorrow is Santa’s Parade of Lights and it’s the perfect way to get into the Christmas Spirit!

Santa's Parade of Lights

Starting at 5:30 pm this year brings a new parade route. You can watch the parade along Jasper Ave starting at 100th street and ending at 108th street.

Getting there/Parking

If you’re driving there any many places downtown to park, however, parkades and parking lots in the downtown core will have limited access between 4:30pm-6:00 pm.

If you’re planning to take public transit there are several routes that can get you to the parade and you can plan your trip using the ETS Trip Planner.

What to bring with you!

Pack smart but don’t forget the essentials! Chairs, blankets, some hot cocoa, and some cheap glow sticks from the dollar store! The parade is roughly about 45 minutes so make sure you’re warm and comfortable while you watch some of the most amazing and beautiful holiday floats and of course Santa parade past you!

If you get hungry while you’re there no worries you can find some food trucks at Beaver Hills Park (105 Street and Jasper Avenue), and at 102 Street and Jasper Avenue.

What to wear?

You’re Winter’s finest of course! The weather is supposed to be great tomorrow but that could change in a second so make sure to dress warm and in layers! It’s much easier to peel a layer off and add it on.

Bring Letters to Santa

Write out a Christmas wish list and bring it sealed in an envelope addressed to Santa! Letters can be dropped off at Beaver Hills Park (105 Street and Jasper Avenue) as well as at Abbey Glen Park (101 Street and Jasper Avenue) and helpers will be there to collect them and help deliver them to Santa!

If you can’t make it to Santa’s Parade of Lights no worries!
