This was our second summer staying at Swan Lake RV Resort, which is located on the shore of Swan Lake and conveniently just outside of Vernon, BC.
Summer Vacation At Swan Lake RV Resort
We spent 11 glorious days camping in the Okanagan and here are few reasons why you might want to consider Swan Lake RV Resort on your next trip to BC.
The RV Sites
They aren’t like your typical campground and this is because Swan Lake RV Resort is also known as a Luxury RV Resort where many people buy properties and spend their retirement years. When not using their sites, they also rent them out.
The lots are more like little properties that have a great private space with room to set up a table and chairs, keep your bikes for little jaunts around the resort and to just enjoy the Okanagan sun.
The cost for 2018 to stay at this resort was $67.20/night which includes full hook-ups, cable tv, and minimal WIFI.
Things To Consider
- There is no guarantee about which site you will have, and if you are travelling with other people you may not be next to each other. This is not an issue for us because it takes 5 minutes to walk anywhere around the resort.
- There are no fires allowed at this resort, and while camping may not be the same without one anytime we’ve been to BC there has been a fire ban anyways.
- If you NEED internet access, plan to pay the extra $50 which you will be directed to when you sign up for an account. The resort has free WIFI but it’s painfully slooooooowwwww.
The Amenities
One of the things that we love about this place is that there is an outdoor pool which is conveniently located in the middle of the resort. There is plenty of lounge chair seating around the pool, some places for shade and a hot tub that children 7 & older can use (with an adult)
Other amenities include onsite laundry which is $2.25 per wash & per dry, 2 central washrooms and showers, a large picnic on the lakefront with tons of green space (no swimming), and more.
Conveniently Located Attractions
While there is no beach access from the resort you’re in the heart of many beaches so take your pick! Kalamaka Lake is a 15-minute drive, Kelowna is under 60 minutes, plus many others that you can find along the way!
If you’re wanting to check out Kelowna, you’re close enough to make day trips (and we did several times). Plus you’re also close to many fruit stands, Enderby Drive-In movies, O’Keefs Ranch, Kangaroo Creek, and you name it. Trust me we did not feel isolated one bit!
Basically, we love this resort and have decided that not only do we want to camp here every summer but when it comes time to retire this place will where we want to retire!
