Making A List
If we are planning on having people over for any occasion, we now start our plan with a long list a few weeks before. This has been determined through trial and error (like many things) because we’ve been through quite a bit of occasions where we didn’t plan, and it ended up being left to the last minute where we were ultimately scrambling and feeling stressed. No matter how big or small the task is, we put everything on our list.
Schedule It
After we have figured out everything that we need to do, we schedule it all. While there are many scheduling apps out there, our phone calendars synced with each other is what works best for us. Not only do we designate a day for the task, but also the times, and we even arrange for babysitters (because sometimes it’s just easier without kids).
With limited time, we also know that it’s important to be efficient so there are some things that need to be done first in order for all of the tasks to fall into place. I wish I could say that this was always the case, but I’d be lying if I said there wasn’t one year where I had to run out and grab a key ingredient, not once, but twice.
Holiday Inspiration
Finding new recipes to make for a large group, ideas for decorating our fireplace mantle, and kid-friendly mocktails are just a few things that have to be figured out before our party. Using our phones, my husband and I can find inspiration ideas to help us make our final decision. Our kids also enjoy being able to help with some of the planning!
