Our first stop on our summer vacation to BC brought us to Kamloops, BC for a family wedding. We were lucky enough to be able to stay at a family members property just outside of Kamloops and boy was it beautiful – I mean look at this view that we got to wake up to in the mornings… pure heaven.
Anyways… I digress.
Before we moved on to the next part of our summer vacation, I wanted to take the kids to Prince Charles Park in Kamloops. I’ve read the reviews on this park because of the playground but also because of their wading pool.
The wading pool is the perfect place for kids 6 and under to enjoy splashing around and cooling off. However, my 2 older kids (7 & 9) were also there and loved it. The deepest it went was up to my knees making it the perfect depth too.
When I was a kid here in Edmonton we used to have wading pools but they were all cement. Not fun or very comfortable now that you think of it. Thankfully the one at Prince Charles Park also had a softer bottom.
Right by the wading pool is also the playground. The playground floor is made up of half rubber and half wood chip and there are slides, a small playhouse area, and several other options for climbing and spinning. The big draw for many kids was the big pirate ship complete with a lookout point and wheel to pretend steer.
There is plenty of green space around the playground and wading pool for you to set up and spend the day there. Even better they also have public bathrooms/change rooms for you to use at your convenience. Some of the trees in the park are massive, however, it also makes it perfect for shade – which in Kamloops in the summer is key!
We can’t wait to stop there again next summer – you can find Prince Charles Park at 1198 Columbia Street.
