To help prevent the spread of COVID-19 Edmonton playgrounds will be closed effective immediately, this announcement also includes toboggan hills. Picnic tables will also be removed from parks and spray parks will not open on schedule.
“With schools now closed, we know the decision to close playgrounds will be disappointing to some families and children,” said Adam Laughlin. “We are taking this action, and reminding people about physical distancing, to limit the spread of the virus and protect people, especially those who are most vulnerable.”
Park/green spaces around the playgrounds and the river valley will, however, continue to remain open. When using these areas it’s always important to keep social distancing in mind, by keeping at least two metres (six feet) from each other at all times, even when outside.
