If you’re looking for some Shuswap Adventures to do with your kids, this is a great place to start. Here are some of our favourite places that we stopped when we were in the Shuswap area this summer.
Shuswap Adventures With Kids
Visit The Dreamcycle Motorcycle Museum
If you haven’t been to the Shuswaps before and are looking for some great local fun, this is the place that you need to go first. Not only can you check out a great collection of classic and collectable motorcycles but the owner will give you some great tips on where to go, provide you with maps, and more. (You can read my review from our visit here)

Breakfast At Spinnaker Cafe
Spinnaker Cafe definitely didn’t disappoint. The stacks of pancakes that we ordered for the kids were the perfect filling amount keeping them full until dinner, which isn’t their normals garbage disposal self, and my eggs were cooked to perfection. Open for breakfast and lunch there is social-distanced seating in the restaurant, but also 2 patio tables that you can book. They book up fast so call 250-675-2238 if you’re hoping to sit outside to enjoy your meal. When you’re finished make you take a stroll over to Love is Blind Bay Gifts to find items made by local makers and more.
Where to find it: 2417 Golf Course Dr #11, Blind Bay
Take A Stroll On The Marine Peace Park Salmon Arm Wharf
Take a stroll on the 440-foot dock and enjoy those incredible views! When you get to the end, you’ll find a concession with ice cream and picnic tables. While you’re at Marine Peace Park you can also explore the trail that takes you along the shoreline.
Where to find it: 750 Marine Park Drive NE, Salmon Arm, BC
Ice Cream As Big As Your Head At Tappen Co-op
If you’re looking for a larger than life ice cream cone, this is the place to be! Enjoy a cool treat at the Tappen Co-op and if you’re a fan of Rust Valley Restorers the Tappen Co-op also carries some of their swag. While you can’t visit their set this year due to COVID there is also a fun cut out by the ice cream area at the back to take some pictures!
Where to find it: 4828 Trans-Canada Hwy, Tappen, BC
Delicious Cheese And Farm Animals At Grass Roots Dairies
If you love cheese you HAVE to go here. We found this place in 2010 when it was originally Gort’s Gouda and have been in love with it ever since. You can also find fresh milk, Bulgarian yogurt, and quark cheese here as well. While you’re visiting there are also some farm animals on-site for you to visit with.
P.S. our favourite cheese is the Mazuda, it’s to die for!
Where to find it: 1470 50th St. S.W. Salmon Arm
Visit The Salmon Arm Waterslides
This waterpark may be small but it’s a great place to spend a hot summer day! There are 7 slides, 2 hot tubs and a large green space area for you to enjoy with a concession open for your convenience.

A Slice Of Pie at the Shuswap Pie Company
The line-up is almost always out the door so be prepared to wait (or pre-order by calling 1-250-832-7992). Selling both savoury and sweet pie using local ingredients you can also choose from their monthly lunch specials. If you love pie of any kind you’ve got to go here! Our favourites were Raspberry-Rhubarb, Strawberry-Rhubarb, and Bumbleberry.

A Small Hike To Margaret Falls
Filled with hundreds of years old fallen Cedar trees, a few bridges, a trail-side stream and some caved overhangs there’s so much to explore, and even better it’s under 20 minutes and easily accessible.

Living The Beach Life
When in the Shuswaps, there are a few options for public beach access for you to choose from, it all depends on where you want to go. These were the beaches that we visited during our stay! Next July we’ll definitely be adding more!

Fresh Food, Local Wares, And Llamas at DeMille’s
Here you’ll find an amazing grocery store with produce from the local community, a few different shops that carry homemade and restored items and my kid’s favourite, Haywire Animal Habitat! There’s even treats that you can buy at DeMille’s to feed the farm animals!
Where to find it: 3710 Trans-Canada Hwy SW, Salmon Arm,
Homemade Ice Cream, Baby Calves, And Birds Oh My At D’Dutchmen Dairy
Every year we visit BC we always have to stop here. While many places serve ice cream, not many are non-commercial brands and to be honest, their ice cream is to die for. A close second favourite of mine is their chocolate milk, so good. Hot tip, if you’re from Edmonton you can find their milk at Sunterra Market Lendrum Location!
