I am excited to hear that Weehelp, a local not for profit group in Edmonton, is taking in car seats to be recycled. Once they are received here, they are taken to Vancouver to be recycled.
So why is it good to recycle your car seat instead of just cutting the straps and putting it in the garbage?? There are a few!
- It keeps unnecessary items from being put into the landfills
- The plastic from the car seats can be broken down to make other items such as plastic patio furniture, butter tubs, and other children’s products
- Other items are disposed of correctly, efficiently, and the most environmentally friendly way as possible.
