Bodum French Press Coffee Maker
Some things in life are not meant to be sacrificed. Friends, family, a good eye brow wax, and a good cup of coffee are on the top of my list.
Chances are you received a coffee maker as a wedding or house warming gift. It brews an okay cup of coffee but I have found that unless I had a barista standing in my kitchen, sharpie in hand asking for my name I was always left somewhat unsatisfied.
A couple of years ago Kris came home with a Bodum French Press Coffee maker. I have to admit at first I was a little intimidated…. I mean a french press sounded pretty…well.. La Ti Da. Then he brewed the first cup and now the coffee maker only sees the light of day when we have a large gathering at our house.
In my opinion our Bodum French Press Coffee Maker, is one of my most prized possessions. We bring it with us when we travel (kids..check, passports.. check, coffee press.. check). We bring it with us when we go camping (kids.. check, roasting sticks.. check, coffee press.. check). I would even grab it if we were forced to vacate our house due to a fire or zombie apocalypse (kids..check, fire extinguisher/crossbow.. check, coffee press.. check).
So what makes French Press coffee you ask? Let’s start with the brewing process. Most coffee makers use the gravity method, in which water passes through coffee grounds as fast as gravity allows it. It also uses a paper filter that doesn’t allow the oils from the coffee to penetrate through.
The Bodum French Press Coffee Maker uses the steep method that allows complete even saturation of the coffee grounds allowing for a smooth balanced flavour! There are no standard paper filters, therefore there is not loss of oils or taint of flavour from said filters. And that also means less waste!

Does the Bodum french press have .measurements? My Logistina one does not, so I measure out my water with a measuring cup, find it taste more better with the proper ratios. 1tblspoon to 1/2 cup water

Bodum recommends 2 TBL Spoons per 1 cup of water and we find that works good for us.

So that is the same, but on the side of the container of french press, does it have measurements for a cup or two? Or do you measure out your water before putting in?

Interesting read. They use British measurements and there 4 oz = a cup but here a cup is 8 oz. So, it should be a tbsp / ½ cup.

That is very interesting. I looked at my Bodum as well and there are no measure lines on it. Thanks for sharing this! 🙂
