Going camping at Alberta parks this summer? Here’s what you need to know!

This past Monday February 8th at 9am booking opened for group campsites at Alberta parks, for the whole camping season. By 9:10am I had a group campsite booked for August and noticed that all the good ones were already pretty much booked solid for every weekend of the camping season. Here are some things to keep in mind when booking for the upcoming camping season when you are booking your campsites!

1. If you are booking online and if you haven’t already, make sure you have an account created with Alberta Parks. If you do have one make sure you are logged in when making your reservations, You can create an account here

2. If you are planning to call in your booking the number is 1-877-537-2757.

3. Comfort camping can be booked starting at 9am on Tuesday February 16th. With only 27 units available to be booked set your alarms! These can also be booked for the whole season!

4. Regular campsites can be booked starting at 9am on Monday February 22nd. Reservations can only be made 90 days in advance, so if you are planning on booking for May long weekend make sure you’re ready to book on this date!

5. When booking your regular campsites you can only book 4 reservations at once. If you want to plan a camping trip every weekend you will need to make several transactions.

6. For the risk takers or the last minute planners there are several campsites that are first come first served. You can find a list of those ones here.
*Tip* Most people plan to leave to go camping on Fridays, if you live close enough to one of these campsites it might be best to go on a Thursday night and set up your tent. Even better take off the Friday and start your camping early!

7. If you are interested in back country camping you will need to call to make reservations.
