Love Pizza – a review of Edmonton’s newest pizza place

We have been planning to check out Love Pizza since the concept of the restaurant was announced months ago. This past weekend was the perfect time. Exhausted from a birthday party and a chance to visit with my sister and brother in law we headed downtown to check out the pizza place that we had anticipated for so long.

The great thing about Love Pizza is that you can order from a variety of already created pizza menu items of you can create your own and let your tastes guide you. With several sauces available, different crusts and over 40 fresh ingredients to choose from there is no lack in taste options that’s for sure.

Each pizza is assemble on freshly made pizza dough and assembled according to your order, placed in a pizza oven which cooks/toasts the pizza that comes out at the other end. You also have the option to add fresh ingredients the end too.

Our pizza orders

To be honest I am very routine in what I order so I literally went in thinking – ‘Christine you need to try something you would not normally eat. Like ever’ and so I ordered the Old MacDonald which included unique ingredients of eggs and chili oil (plus more). And you know what it. was. DELICIOUS.

Kris is a little more daring in general so I knew what he ordered was going to be delicious. Her orders the Ode to Ukraine and it was amazing. A pizza that captures the essence of a perogy is perfect in my Ukrainian world.

For kids 10 and under a kids cut option is available. It’s half the size their regular pizza which is the perfect kids size! Both Carter & Sophie had a pepperoni pizza  because well getting them to eat anything different is a fight and a waste of money. Pepperoni pizza it was.

Dessert

There are 2 options for dessert, Peach Pie and Pinocchi Ice Cream. We orderd both and shared them. The Peach Pie is made on the same size crust as a pizza is and also cooked the same way. It was a great mix of peach compote, Ricotta cheese, and other pie goodness. After eating a lot of pizza it was too much to finish at Love Pizza so we took it home and I am happy to report that it tasted even better the next day. We also ordered the Ice Cream and it was good too but really the Peach Pie won me over.

The price

For 2 full size ‘Love Pizza sized’ pizzas, 2 kids cut pizzas, 5 drinks, and 2 desserts the cost of our whole meal came to $62.50. This is what we would pay for a typical family dinner so that was pretty decent in my books.

The verdict

We left stuffed, with left overs, and already planning what to order the next time we come back.
