This past weekend we camped at Carson Pegasus Provincial Park. Located a little over 2 hours west of Edmonton this is a family campground with walk-in tenting sites, full hook-up sites, and new to us – campsites that you pull up along side instead of backing into…(it made it really easy for getting the trailer into place)
Explore
With beautiful walking trails you can look for one of the many birds that live within the campground, check out the ampithetre and more. There are also two parks to play in, and an ice cream shop with some delicious ice cream. (Prices start out at $2.25/cone)
Boating
The lake that surrounds Carson Pegasus Provincial Park is McLeod Lake. With a boat launch in the main campground and one by the group camping sites you can bring your own boat or canoe to use on the lake. There are also motor boats and paddle boats to rent at the main boat launch area. Prices start at $10/hour and go up from there. (Go early though because they rent out fast)
Fishing
Both Carter and Sophie brought along their fishing rods and we feasted on Rainbow Trout one night for dinner! Word has it that it’s also a great place to catch craw fish. Spanning a good portion of the lake, pick your spot and fish from shore.
There is a laundromat
I know probably not on your list of things you need BUT we were mighty thankful for it when the kids woke up and got sick over some of the blankets. We were set to stay 2 more nights and even though we had extra blankets it was nice to not have to worry about them sitting for 2 days…because well gross.
Get water logged
Spend your day wading at the small beach located in the campground or venture outside of the campground. Located 40 minutes out of Whitecourt you can check out the River Slides and spray deck at Rotary park in Whitecourt or go tubing down the McLeod River! There is definitely not a lack of options.
We’ll be heading back to Carson Pegasus Provincial Park again this coming weekend because we loved it so much! This is one campground that is definitely worth the stay.
