This year join us as we gather much-needed items for the Bissell through the #BundleTheBissell campaign January 16th-30th!
In November 2015 I read a story online from CBC about the Bissell Centre putting out a call for winter gear, specifically gloves. In our frigid temperatures our homeless population need gloves and if they don’t have them it can and has lead to finger amputations.
What’s concerning is that last year when I was interviewing with Shaw there actually wasn’t even a single glove to hold on camera! That in itself reinforced the need for something like #BundletheBissell not just as a one-time thing, but every year.
From last years statistics an average of 200 homeless and vulnerable people access the Bissell on any given day, and on those especially cold days up to 50 pairs of gloves alone can be given out!
Items that Bissell needs during these cold months are:
- Gloves
- Toques
- Scarves
- Winter Work Gloves
- Winter Jackets
- New Underwear/Long Underwear
- New Thermal/ Wool Socks
