The Silver Skate Festival is taking place February 10th-20th at Hawrelak Park. As one of the longest running festivals in Edmonton, Hawrelak Park is transformed into a winter wonderland with many family friendly activities.
Sleigh rides, snowshoeing, and more at the Silver Skate Festival
Folk Trail – Catch the show February 10-12 & 17-19. This year’s story is called The Land Of the Golden Apples which follow Princess Summer and the quest to make The Land of Golden Apples the beautiful land that is once was with the help a Prince.
Fire Sculpture – At 7:45pm February 10-12 & 17-19 watch as a sculpture which has been built by a different team of artists each day is burned. Each sculpture will represent the team’s interpretation of the story “Land of the Golden Apples”
Snowshoeing – Try out some snowshoeing with the family 1:00pm-5:00pm on weekends and on Family Day!
Register for the family walk/run – Happening on February 11th. The cost for a family to participate is $50 the 1k walk/run is a great way to get outside and get some exercise with the family.

Horse Drawn Sleigh Rides – Take a majestic sleigh ride through Hawrelak Park. This will be available from 12:00pm-4:00pm on weekends and Family Day!
Ice Castles – Happening right now next to the Silver Skate Festival! Plan a fun family day filled full of winter fun with attending the festival and also checking out the Ice Castles! Get details on buying tickets.
Heritage Village – Watch as blacksmiths demonstrate how they use primary tools (a punch, hammer and tongs) to produce Damascus steel, artwork, wrought iron, and are still used today to recreate historic hardware. You can also participate in Cree Winter Camp to see how Cree people relied on their natural surroundings for survival.

Ice Sculpture – Teams of 2-3 artists will transform 8-ft high, 8-ft wide and 8-ft deep blocks of snow into magical creations. See which one is your favourite!
Winter Sports – Try your hand at Jam Can Curling, Broom Ball, Hockey, and Free Cross Country Skiing! You can experience these activities weekdays 4:00pm-8:00pm and weekends 1:00pm-5:00pm.
