Put Bower Ponds in Red Deer on your places to go this summer

We recently had the chance to check out Bower Ponds in Red Deer. I first discovered this fun family attraction in the winter while looking for things to do this summer. I knew it was a place we had to go to, and we had a blast.

Bower Ponds in Red Deer

Walk on water in the Water Balls

The first thing that the kids wanted to try out was the Water Balls, I mean who doesn’t want to try walking on water? Carter was the first one to go in and after a little bit of convincing Sophie also tried them out.

The Water Balls are connected to a rope on the dock and a staff from Bower Ponds supervise while you are out on the water. Both kids spent 10 minutes in there, which was the perfect amount of time. Admission for the Water Balls is $20 for 10 minutes and worth it because the kids are still talking about it!

Paddle Boats

The next thing we tried out was the Paddle Boats. Sophie and Carter took turns in the paddle boat with me. We paddled all the way under the foot bridge to the other pond and being such a hot day the breeze blowing through the fountain was refreshing.

Paddle boats are available for 2 or 4 people and the 4 person paddle boats can also accommodate a small child if need be. Paddle boats, canoes, and Kayaks can be rented for $10/hour per person.

Surrey Bikes

We took a ride around the park and while going up hills is a little tough, going down the hills is super fun. Plus it’s a great workout! Surrey bikes can be rented for $30/hour.

Chedda Heads & Pond Doggies

If you’re ever looking for a food truck to hunt down in Red Deer, Chedda Heads is it and luckily they are also at the cafe at Bower Ponds.

Serving gourmet grilled cheese and hot dogs, this is one place you will want to stop off for a bite to eat. With tons of green space and picnic tables outside to enjoy your meal, you can also sit and eat inside the cafe.

I ordered the Rearview Mirror which has Cheddar, Apple, Bacon, and Maple Syrup. I honestly didn’t know how I would like it but being one of their most popular gourmet grilled cheese sandwiches, I knew I had to try it AND it was delicious. Finished off with a side of chips and a pickle it was the perfect summer meal.

Kris ordered the Over the Moon which has Cheddar, Mozza, Beef Patty, Bacon, Tomato, Onion, and BBQ Sauce and it definitely did not disappoint. For our pizza loving kids, they each ordered a Lil Monster which has Cheddar, Mozza, Pepperoni, and Pizza Sauce.

Bower Ponds is open 7 days a week 11am-9pm and is located at4707 Fountain Drive. To get more details on everything that you can experience check out their website bowerponds.ca
