Supporting Women’s Health through the Shoppers Drug Mart Growing Women’s Health campaign

When I had Finley in 2015, it was the first time that I had been in the Lois Hole Hospital for Women to receive care.

Being there and knowing all of the innovative and specialized services that are available to women in all ages and stages under one roof made me grateful to have the Lois Hole Hospital as an option not only for women in Edmonton but in central and northern Alberta too.

One of those women is Amanda Twidale, a mom from Cold Lake, who after the birth of her first son received a cancer diagnosis and had her treatments at the Lois Hole Hospital for Women.

Amanda is now a mom to, two boys and is cancer free, thanks to the care and innovative options at the Lois Hole Hospital, which are made available because of donations from initiatives like the Shoppers Drug Mart Growing Women’s Health program.

Shoppers Drug Mart Growing Women’s Health program

Until October 6th you can help to support the Lois Hole Hospital for Women through the Shoppers LOVE.YOU Growing Women’s Health campaign at one of the 29 Edmonton and area Shoppers Drug Mart locations. The program gives you the option to purchase a “leaf” for a loonie, a “butterfly” for $5, an “apple” for $10 and a “bird” for $50.

These donation icons will be displayed proudly in the stores Growing Women’s Health Tree. The money that is raised in Edmonton will go towards the Lois Hole Hospital for Women.

Last year the Shoppers Drug Mart Growing Women’s Health program donated $108,538 allowing for the outfitting of a second colonoscopy screening room, the purchase of mobile ultrasound machines, and the addition of the da Vinci robot (the only one of its kind in Western Canada dedicated to women’s health).

This year the goal is to raise $3.6 million to help fund local women’s health charities, like the Lois Hole Hospital for Women.

As a mom, wife, and woman I am thankful that there are initiatives like the Shoppers Drug Mart Growing Women’s Health campaign so that all women who need to access the Lois Hole Hospital for Women can do so and receive the treatment they need.
