13 Holiday Light Displays Around Edmonton + Area That Are Worth The Drive

It’s that time of year again where the Holiday Light Displays around Edmonton + area are being put up and we’re planning our annual evening drives! 

This year there are some new holiday light displays and experiences so grab a hot chocolate, put on some Christmas music and plan for some memory-making fun with the whole family.

Magic of Lights 

New this year, drive through 2km of Holiday Light Displays and animations at Castrol Raceway from November 17th- January 6th! It’s definitely going to be a new holiday season family tradition.

Candy Cane Lane 

A must see in Edmonton, drive down Candy Cane Lane, park and walk it or book a hayride! Opening on December 8th, don’t forget to bring your letter to mail to Santa and a donation to the Edmonton Food Bank.

Williams Winter Wonderland

Located 30 minutes North of Edmonton everyone will love exploring the handmade and painted decorations throughout the yard as well as lights and so much more!

Luminara

Taking place December 1st-3rd at U of A Botanic Garden. Kids will love running through the Snowlight Maze, take a stroll through the candle-lit pathways, enjoy hot apple cider beside the bonfires, ice sculptures, make a wish and hang it on a Wish-Upon-A-Star Tree, and more!

Light Walk

Take a stroll under the stars and experience magic as you walk through the Temperate Pyramid surrounded by nature and other breathtaking wonders every Thursday evening at the Muttart Conservatory until the end of December

St. Albert

There are a few great places in St.Albert that have amazing lights displays! We love spending an evening driving around to look at them with Hot Chocolate in hand (our favourite is Elliot Place)

Zoominescience

Taking place on weekends in December at the Edmonton Valley Zoo, walk around end take in the sights of artistic light installations, visit with Santa, and other family-friendly entertainment.

Alberta Legislature

This year the lights will be on are on December 7th-23rd. Every year brings great holiday entertainment and a fun experience.

Christmas at Bobs

We discovered this house 2 year ago and it’s been a Christmas tradition ever since. Located in South Edmonton the lights turn on the first week of December. If you’re posting on Instagram don’t forget to tag Christmas at Bobs and use hashtag #christmasatbobs

Leduc Country Christmas Lights

With 5 acres of Christmas lights, weekend Santa visits + hot chocolate the drive is definitely worth it for us! It opens this year on December 1st so mark your calendars!

Christmas in Edmonton 

Located in West Edmonton, this is another house that we discovered in the past few years! Last year they added ‘Let it Go’ to the light show this year and still have all the other great Christmas songs!

Greenland Garden Centre

Grab a hot chocolate from their in-house restaurant and take a stroll to see some of the best-decorated trees around! Upside down trees, unique ornaments, beautiful displays and more.

Enchanted Forrest 

Located in Fort Saskatchewan go on a holiday tour of The Dow Centennial Centre, Shell Theatre, City Hall and the Public Library to see all of the fabulous trees.
