How to make your own butter at home in a few simple steps

Make your own butter

Butter, it’s delicious on toast, a must have on popcorn, and useful for so many other things (like apparently coffee…however I haven’t tried that yet).

The great thing is that you can actually make your own butter at home, from scratch just like they did way back when. No artificial colors, flavors, and really nothing beats homemade!

How to make your own butter at home in a few simple steps

To make your own butter all you need are a few simple ingredients, a mixer, and towards the end some cold water, wooden spoon and something to keep your butter in. Once you make your own butter for the first time you’ll be hooked because it’s just that easy.

Ingredients

Directions

**I know this seems like a lot of back and forth with draining the butter but it is super important because doing all of this will take the buttermilk out of the butter mixture which will make it last longer! (Like at least 2 weeks compared to maybe 5 days)

Buying vs. making Organic Butter

If buying organic is important to you, this is also a great way to save a little bit of money on organic butter. This recipe will make a little over 1lb of butter, so with a 1L container of organic heavy cream being roughly $7*, and 1lb of organic butter being about $12* it’s a couple of dollars worth of savings that’s for sure.

Make it sweet, make it savory!

Take your butter to the next level. Omit the salt and try adding these ingredients for a little more flavor!

Have you made your own butter before? Do you do anything different?
