We recently took a family trip to Calgary and this time we stay at the Best Western Port O’Call Hotel. This has been on our list of hotels to stay at for a little while and it’s definitely climbed to the top of our list of places to stay when visiting Calgary that’s for sure!
Port O’Call Hotel in Calgary
Waves Water Park
This waterpark features over 8000 square feet of aquatic fun for the whole family, need I say more? With 2 waterslides at the main pool, 2 hot-tubs, and a separate wading pool area (which is warm for little ones) the whole family will love this waterpark. Life jackets and towels are available for use.
The secret pool in the basement
There’s actually another pool in the basement that is next to the gym. On the first night that we were at Port O’Call, we checked it out and had the whole pool to ourselves. It’s not super big but it was perfect for all of us to splash around in, and there is also a hot tub as well. In the bathrooms that are attached to the gym, you can also find steam rooms in both the men and women’s washrooms.
Stay and play packages
There are a lot of things to do with the family in and around Calgary and it can be a little bit more affordable with the hotels stay and play packages. Port O’Call offers up to 50% savings on admission to the Calgary Zoo, Calaway Park, Heritage Park and Telus Spark. Get all the details here.
There’s a racquetball court
I couldn’t figure out for the first 2 days why people were walking around with their racquets and then on the last day, we discovered that there is a racquetball court in the basement (not too far from the basement pool). If you play, pack your racquet!
The service
From check-in to check-out we found the customer service phenomenal and consistent across the board. Room service, housekeeping, customer service desk staff, the small cafe and more made the whole trip just that much more enjoyable.
We’re already planning our next weekend getaway to Calgary and Port O’Call is where we’ll be staying again for sure!
