Taking my vehicle in for any repairs or general maintenance is stressful for me because my husband works, taking the kids to wait there is horrible, and taking the shuttle to and from, with 3 kids with car seats is a nightmare. I am sure that many people can relate.
Over the last little while, there had been this annoying noise coming from my van that I had been dreading taking in but around the same time I was contacted by a company in Edmonton called instaMek.
InstaMek is a mechanic company that comes to your home and can do over 500 auto repairs to your vehicle. This includes oil changes, seasonal tire rotations, electrical issues, brakes, and so much more.
The concept of instaMek started over a year ago when the mom of one of the co-founders was experiencing car troubles while the rest of her family were out of town. After not being able to successfully hire a mechanic from online classifieds she ended up having to tow her vehicle which in the end resulted in her spending more money than she needed to as well as wasting time.

How instaMek works
All bookings are completed online which is super easy to do. All you need to know is the make, model, engine size, and year of your vehicle, describe what it is that you need to be done, and pick a time. Shortly afterwards you will receive an email with a quote for the work that you have requested as well as a confirmation email.
If you aren’t sure what the problem is, a fee to come out is charged, and then a quote will be given once the problem has been diagnosed.
For my van it was originally thought that my sway bar bushings needed to be replaced, however, once everything was taken off is was noticed that a bracket was loose and that was what the problems were.
The mechanic could have done the work for the sway bar bushings and I wouldn’t have known any different, however; instaMek prides themselves on being an honest business. This brought my bill down by over $200, which is almost unheard when it comes to vehicles.
They can do more than come to your home

The pricing of instaMek is competitive to shops and dealerships, making it an easy decision to book an appointment. This is especially true because you are paying what you would pay or even less had you of gone somewhere else, but now you can get stuff done at home while they work on your vehicle.
InstaMek also carries triple insurance coverage for the mechanics, your vehicle, and your property, so you do not need to worry about liability.
Is there anything that instaMek can’t do?
If your vehicle requires work that is considered a heavier mechanic job, like hoisting out your engine or transmission there are shops that instaMek works with to get the work on your vehicle done. They bring loads of motor supplies out with them but your car might need some more attention.
Is there anything that I would change?
I once heard that when people write reviews – they aren’t taken seriously unless there is something that mentions things they don’t like. In this case, there really isn’t anything that I would change. Booking was easy, work was efficient, I paid less than I was quoted, and I didn’t have to take out any car seats.
To me, that is a complete win, and I am 100% happy with the service that I received.
Will I use instaMek again?
Yes absolutely. Like I said above if I am paying the same or less for jobs that I need to have done on my vehicle and they are completed by a master mechanic while I can stay in the comfort of my own home – this is a game changer in my opinion. A much-needed service for everyone!
