It’s been quite the year for Kepler Academy, to say the least! In January they opened their doors to their first location at Westlink and this summer have also added two more locations. One which is located in downtown Edmonton at SunLife Place and their newest location in South Edmonton at College Plaza
Offering childcare to children 16 weeks- 6 years, as well as Out of School Care for ages 6+, Kepler takes different key elements from the Reggio method, the Waldorf approach, and the Montessori approach. Daily programming is STREAM focused which incorporates science, technology, robotics, engineering, arts, and math. The best part is that this is done organically through interaction, discovery, and play.
Ages and Stages at Kepler Academy
For every age and stage, Kepler Academy focuses on the key component of a child’s development and also recognizes key milestones when moving on to their next rooms. As a way to celebrate their journey at each stage children are provided with badges to show their achievements.
Stargazers (16 weeks – 18 months)
Everything is new and exciting! With a specific focus on building a relationship of trust through social interaction and serve-and-return functionality once children finisher their stargazer journey, they will receive 3 badges which include walking, pincer grip, and beginner literacy.
Explorers (19 months – 3 years)
Providing focused and positive experiences that help children to explore the unknown through adventure. Using simple songs, nursery rhymes, stories and more staff help to promote security and independence in a safe environment. At the end of the explore journey toddlers will receive self-help, potty-training, problem-solving, and shapes badges.
Navigators (3-5 years)
Children explore and gain knowledge through all senses at this stage and the Kepler staff are there to encourage discovery along the way. Activities include free play, outdoor play, being introduced to gardening, nature, and more. By the end of Navigator journey children will have 3 more badges, which include name recognition, scissors handling, and reading.
Pioneers (5-6 years)
A one-of-a-kind curriculum that follows the Alberta Education Curriculum and includes the specifically designed Kepler Curriculum as well. Geared to set children up for a lifelong journey of learning, this program provides many opportunities for discovery and promotes positive attitudes. At the end of their pioneer journey children will receive their literacy, math, and science experiments badges
Stellar (6 years +)
Through a variety of activities which include science experiments, sculpture, stop motion, tai chi, and even robotics children will learn many valuable skills. Building self-esteem and confidence, developing social skills, encouraging creativity, and so much more.
The Extra-Curricular Activities
There definitely isn’t a lack of activities that are available to children that are enrolled at Kepler. Yoga, jiu-jitsu, robotics, coding, and cooking are just some of the activities that are offered.
At the new College Plaza location, there is a brand-new swimming pool that is located in the building which will give children that are enrolled at Kepler (from all 3 locations) the chance to participate in swimming lessons.
For a working parent, sometimes those extra-curricular just aren’t a possibility because you’re already stretched too thin and it’s a reality for many. This is just one of the many added conveniences that are offered through Kepler Academy.
New College Plaza Location & Open House
Good childcare options can be hard to find, especially in the area of the U of A and Stollery. This is the reason why Kepler knew they had to open an academy in the area. Whether you attend University, work at the U of A, the hospital, or even other businesses around there Kepler has spots available going all the way up to Out of School Care for children 6+.
Check Out the New College Plaza Location Open House
This Sunday, July 29th you’re invited to check out the new College Plaza location at 215, 8215 112th Street NW (in the university area). From 12:30pm-3: 30 pm enjoy some light refreshments and snacks (which are a sample of what your child will be served while at Kepler), tour the new centre and learn all about the programming that your children will love.
