LCDS Preschool & Kindergarten (formerly known as Londonderry Child Development Society) is a not-for-profit, parent cooperative that offers Preschool, Junior Kindergarten, and Kindergarten programs in North Edmonton.
LCDS Preschool & Kindergarten
Preschool classes are available to kids 3-4 years old for 2-4/day a week and parents love the option of being able to select the days of the week that their child attends (pending availability). There is also a Junior Kindergarten program that is offered for children that don’t meet the age requirement for Kindergarten but are looking for a more academically challenging program.
The Kindergarten program offered is a traditional kindergarten program that is available for those that are looking for a different option instead of a k-6 school. Classes are 5 days a week with options for morning and afternoon. Kindergarten fees are also covered as they would be in other kindergarten classes.
One of the things that LCDS Preschool & Kindergarten prides itself in is that they offer low ratio classrooms which are taught by a teacher with a Bachelor’s Degree in Education as well as trained Educational Assistants. There is a maximum of 7 Kindergarten students enrolled in each class with a maximum of 17 students/day/class.
Other Important Details
All of the classes are combined to create the perfect learning environment which encompasses a structured play-oriented program that focuses on the social, motor, personal, and language skills. This is accomplished through programming that includes free play, songs and group activities, story and library time, theme days that include cooking, sharing, and celebrations, and interactions with teachers that model appropriate behaviours and dialogue – just to name a few!
Class times for each of the programs are as follows:
Morning Classes – Kindergarten: 9 am to 12 pm, Preschool: 9:15 am to 12 pm
Afternoon classes – Kindergarten: 12:45 pm to 3:45 pm, Preschool: 1 pm to 3:45 pm
