Learning Through Play At West Edmonton Playschool

At West Edmonton Playschool their focus on programming is based on learning through play. As an important part of a child’s development, learning through play helps to encourage creativity, socialization, problem-solving skills, and developing language skills. Also learning through play is FUN!

Why Your Child Will Love West Edmonton Playschool

Did you know that WEPS was voted one of the Top 3 Preschools in Edmonton for 2019 by ThreeBestRated? This is based on a 50 point inspection that considers different aspects of service which include: history, reputation, consistency, trust, reviews, cost and more.

As a parent-run co-operative, WEPS is a not-for-profit playschool that offers low-class sizes for 3 & 4-year-olds.

The Bumble Bees program is for 3-year-olds and takes place on Tuesdays & Thursdays. During class time activities include free play, circle time, crafts, gym and outdoor exploration, basic cooking, as well as field trips and class parties. Children must be 3 by December 31st of the school year and the ratio is 2 staff to 12 students.

Caterpillars & Fireflies are classes for 4-year-olds with both morning and afternoon options on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. The programming for these classes uses the foundations built in Bumble Bees and also focuses on kindergarten readiness by including science, language, writing, and physical activity. This is done through yoga, journaling, learning basic Spanish, and basic science and more! The ratio for these classes is 2 teachers to 15 students.

Parent Involvement

One of the reasons why West Edmonton Playschool runs so well is because of the active participation of the parents and family members of children attending. WEPS is run by the Executive Board as well as parent volunteers who help with fundraising, general volunteering, classroom activities and events, maintaining their tower garden and more.
