Having your furnace serviced every year is something that you might not think about, but it’s an important part to keeping your furnace in tip-top shape. Think of it in terms of getting an oil change for your vehicle, it’s necessary to keep it working!
If you have an air conditioner, don’t forget to include that too because if you don’t have a properly functioning furnace your air conditioner isn’t working to it’s full potential either.
We moved into our home in 2014, and like many people we slacked on the upkeep of our furnace and air conditioner. Thinking about booking someone to come in, but never doing it saying to ourselves “We’ll book it next month”. You could imagine that when I was offered a chance to have Reliance The Furnace Company come to my home for a 21 point inspection of my furnace and air-conditioner to ensure everything was in working order, I happily accepted.
The first visit from Reliance The Furnace Company
Booking my appointment with Reliance over the phone was easy and quick. After a few basic questions I was scheduled to have an appointment 3 days later. When the service technician arrived and started the process of cleaning out my furnace it was noticed that our air conditioner was actually leaking into our furnace. The result? Our furnace needed to be replaced and the air-conditioner unit should be replaced or disconnected. Bigger problems than what I could have ever imagined.
I had a lot of questions (as you could imagine) and the service technician was definitely patient in answering and re-answering those questions. I booked a time for Reliance to come back for when my husband would be home, to explain it all again because I didn’t absorb much of anything. We would also would need a quote for a new furnace and maybe an air conditioner. Thankfully, I was also left with a business card, should I have any questions before the next appointment. I’m not going to lie, the service technician left and I had a minor anxiety attack.
The Reliance experience
The following Sunday morning an employee from Reliance came over and explained to my husband why our furnace needed to be replaced, showing him the damage on both our units and provided us with several options.
The information was all laid out for us in terms of price points, unit brands, and what the difference would be if we decided to do a combination of a furnace and air-conditioner or just a furnace. All of our questions were answered in great detail, plus more.
One thing that pleasantly surprised me was that Reliance gives you the option to rent your units. Installation, bringing everything up to code and yearly maintenance is included with this option and it probably is one of the most economic choices for someone (like us) who is going to live in their home for a long time.
The Verdict
We still haven’t made our choice yet, as we aren’t sure if we want to buy or rent but we do know that after the customer service we experienced with Reliance it will be with them. And if we do decided to buy our unit(s) they will be serviced every single year in hopes of avoiding this ever happening again.
