Get outside and celebrate winter at the Deep Freeze Festival this weekend on January 14th & 15th.
Taking place along four closed blocks of Alberta Avenue (118ave) between 90 and 94 Streets. Admission is by donation, which can be deposited in the colourful tubes that are onsite.
There are many fun things for the whole family to explore so dress up in your winter gear and don’t forget to bring your skates and a sled!
6 free activities for kids at the Deep Freeze Festival
Go on a Horse & Wagon Ride
Taking place on both days from 12:45 pm-5:00 pm, take a Horse & Wagon Ride for a tour of the avenue. Get on at 118ave between 93 & 94 Street.
Slide down the Ice Slide
Put on your winter gear and take a slide down the Ice Slide! You can find it behind the Community Hall, 9210-118ave 12:00 pm – 10:00 pm.
Try Snowshoeing
Experience the popular winter activity, snowshoeing! You can find this and other activities at Pipon Village at 91street & 118ave.
Axe & Knife Throwing
Kids ages 7+ can test their abilities and practise on targets! These activities and more are taking place from 12:00 pm – 6:00 pm are taking place on 118 Ave between 93 & 94 Street.
Watch Live Music & Dancing
One of the kids favourite things to do is to listen to live music! Enjoy the many live music and dance performances throughout the festival. See Ukrainian dancing, Pow Wow Dancers, fiddlers, singing groups and more!
See some Fireworks!
Celebrate Canada’s 150th with fireworks at 6:00 pm on Saturday night. The fireworks will take place at 93 Street & 118 Avenue but really you can see them anywhere at the festival so pick your spot and enjoy the show!
