Whenever we are choosing to go out for a meal, we are always looking at the ingredients on the menu because Kris has a MSG sensitivity.
For a long time, this meant no Chinese food but it all changed when Kris was working at the U of A campus and came across Panda Express, an American Chinese restaurant that does not use any MSG in their food. It quickly became a favourite and it’s now our go-to for Chinese food!
What’s even more exciting is that there is a Panda Express opening in South Edmonton this Friday, March 24th. Panda Express is a family-owned restaurant and as always they strive to embrace a friendly and comfortable dining experience which is complete with their delicious American Chinese food!
Panda Express Menu
With fresh cut vegetables prepared and used daily in their dishes one of our family favourites is the Orange Chicken. The dish includes crispy chicken bites tossed in a sweet and spicy orange sauce and it’s no wonder this is one of their staple dishes!
Other favourites in our family include the Beijing Beef, fried rice, and their Hot & Sour Soup. If you’re looking to add healthier options for your meals the Wok Smart symbol can help to guide you to meal options that are 300 calories or less!
Panda Express initiative – Panda Cares
On opening day Panda Express will be donating 20% of their proceeds to the local charity Kids on Track. They are a community organization that supports children, youth and parents whose socioeconomic situations have made it difficult for them to access opportunities needed for optimal development of their young people.
In the future, Panda Cares will also be hosting two events with the Stollery Children’s Hospital and William Lutsky Family YMCA to promote the health and educational needs of underserved children around Edmonton.
