Last weekend we took a drive out Fort Saskatchewan to check out the Downtown Diner.
A popular destination for locals and beyond it has been featured on the show You Gotta Eat Here in 2015 so this retro 50’s style restaurant that needs to be on your must-eat-here list too.
The Downtown Diner menu items
Menu items at the Downtown Diner include Mac & Cheese, Shepherds Pie Burger, Baby Back Ribs, Meatloaf Club as well as a kids menu with Grilled Cheese and Chicken Fingers.
Our order included an order of deep fried beets (so good!!) Turkey Club with a side of Mac & Cheese, Meatloaf Club with house cut fries, and the kids all had grilled cheese. A perfect order for a first visit.
After dinner, we all ended sharing a banana split which is made with caramelized bananas, vanilla, chocolate, and strawberry ice cream plus toppings of pineapple, chocolate, and strawberry sauce and whip cream. Other dessert items include milkshakes pies and more.
Due to the Downtown Diner being popular there is a chance of having to wait for a table. Be prepared to wait!
