Ice Castles is coming back to Edmonton for its 3rd year opening on January 5th, 2018 – until March (weather pending)
Ice Castles spans about an acre and includes many places to take beautiful photos! Kids will love zooming down the tubular ice slide and the Winter Wonderland! If you’re taking the kids to Ice Castles here are some tips to make your visit a fun experience for all!
Get your tickets online
Skip the line-up and the off chance that you don’t get in! When you buy your tickets online you are reserving a specific time to go. Make sure you’re there at that time so you don’t miss out!
This year Ice Castles will be open 12-8 pm Sunday, 4-9 pm Monday, Wednesday and Thursday, and 11 am -8 pm on Saturdays. General admission tickets for ages 12+ are $12.95 Monday, Wednesday and Thursday, and $15.95 Friday–Sunday. For ages 4-11, tickets are $9.95 Monday, Wednesday and Thursday, and $11.95 Friday–Sunday.
Wear boots with good grips
The whole Ice Castle is ice, and that includes the ground. With so many people visiting, different temperatures melting and re-freezing the ice it’s unpredictable that’s for sure and having good grips will help with this!
Bring a sled, leave the stroller at home
Strollers are not easy to push through Ice Castles (like pushing a stroller through sand). Sleds are much easier to pull throughout.
Dress warm and in layers!
As cold as it is outside it’s just as cold on the inside too (if not more). Make sure everyone is wearing their warmest gear, with something underneath as well on the off chance that they get a little hot – it’s always easy to peel a layer off and put it back on if your cold again.
Don’t forget your camera
Pictures are encouraged, and you can be sure that you’ll get some beautiful ones. With a throne room, a waterfall, beautiful lights throughout you’re going to want to make sure that your camera batteries and phones are charged for this Narnia-like display!
We can’t wait to experience Ice Castles again this year! More details will be released for Ice Castles in the next few weeks along with ticket sales. Make sure you check out their website and also follow along on Facebook!
