Fall Activities Around Alberta | Smoky Lake Pumpkin Festival 2018

The Smoky Lake Pumpkin Festival which takes place the first weekend in October is happening this year October 5th – 7th, with the majority of the family-friendly activities taking place on Saturday, October 6th.

Fun activities taking place throughout the hall & fairgrounds which include a farmers market, giant pumpkin weigh-off, petting zoo, mini midway, live entertainment, and so much more! Admission into the complex where the giant pumpkin weight off and other activities can be found is:

  • $10.00 – 18+
  • $5 – 8-17yrs
  • Free – 7 & under

Stay For The Pumpkin Drop

You’re definitely going to want to stay around until 5:30 pm, which is when the giant pumpkin drop happens! As one of the most anticipated things for the whole weekend, everyone one gathers in the field on the complex grounds to watch this happen.

There are also many things to experience around Smoky Lake such as a pancake breakfast, show and shine, farmers market, food vendors, museum and more. A free shuttle is also available to so that you can travel to and from the fairgrounds and Smoky Lake.

Things To Remember

  • Bring cash with you for food, admission for the pumpkin weight off, and midway rides
  • Dress in layers, the weather can be crisp during this time of year
  • You will be parking in Smoky Lake and then taking a shuttle to the fairgrounds
