I have partnered with YMC and TELUS and have received compensation for this post. All opinions are my own.
The school year is fast approaching and it’s a year of changes for us. After much thought our kids are going to start walking to and from school by themselves and my oldest will also be given the option to stay home alone if I need to step out for quickly.
How Telus Is Making Back To School Just That Much More Easier For Us
Like many families these days we don’t have a landline so we knew that we’d have to get another cell phone plan to be used when home alone and to and from school (at least for the first little bit, and mainly so that I can track them on the GPS).
As a TELUS customer, I was happy to learn about the TELUS Family Advantage program. This program offers plans that allow families to customize the services they need while also offering a family discount with the savings amount starting at $5/person each month. Along with that, the plans also offer unlimited talk & text anywhere in Canada so that you’re always connected.
Choosing A Phone Is Affordable
It used to be that the device was the biggest upfront expense when signing up for a cell phone plan and that was honestly one of our fears when we decided to add another phone to our plan. However, that’s no longer the case with the TELUS Easy Payment financing option which allows you to get the device that you want for $0 upfront and pay for it over 24 months.
You can track your payments through the My TELUS App and also save even more money by opting into the Bring-It-Back program where you return the phone at the end of your plan and even upgrade to a new one. Win-win!
Data Usage
From shopping online for school supplies and back to school clothes, booking appointments, and using my phone for all my work from home business needs I am the one who goes through the most data.
The Simple Share plans offer large buckets of shareable high-speed data that start at $75/month for 10GB of high-speed data. When it comes to sharing the high-speed data you can easily allocate how much high-speed data each account can use and even disable and enable access to the data when you need to.
If you’re worried about data overages the Data Overage Protection feature is a useful tool which allows you to block data once the account has used 100% of the shareable data to avoid surprise charges on your account.
Alternatively, if you don’t want to add limits on your plans you can also switch to Peace of Mind rate plans which allow you to continue to stream with speeds up to 512 kbps AND can be mixed and matched with Simple Share plans under the TELUS Family Advantage program.
TELUS Wise program
The great thing about TELUS is that they recognize with internet usage comes responsibility. Smartphones and social media play a large role in our lives and TELUS is encouraging all Canadians to take a stance on online bullying through their TELUS Wise program.
In May of 2018, their cause marketing initiative #EndBullying was launched and offers interactive and informative workshops and resources to Canadians on staying healthy in the digital world, online security, as well as Internet and Smartphone safety just to name a few.
These workshops are hosted by the 400+ TELUS Wise ambassador volunteers across Canada and it is also officially endorsed by the Canadian Association of Chiefs of Police.
I thought that adding another cell phone to the family would be a daunting experience but it’s been anything but. Dare I say it…but we’re pretty much ready for back to school here.
