The best chocolate cake you will ever make

I don’t like to brag but this really is the best chocolate cake you will ever make. Tweaked and fine tuned to be moist and delicious it is sure to become a family favourite, just like it has been in my family for a long time.

best chocolate cake

Prepped in just under 20 minutes, and cooked in 30 you will have the best chocolate cake in under an hour..hows that for being the best?

Best Chocolate Cake recipe

Preheat oven to 350 degrees

Grease 2 round pans to pour cake mixture into

Mix the following ingredients together in a mixer

  • 1 1/2 cups of milk
  • 3 eggs
  • 3/4 cup of un-salted butter

In another bowl mix these dry ingredients together

  • 2 cups flour (all purpose is my go to, but cake flour works too)
  • 1/2 cup cocoa
  • 1 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt

Once the dry ingredients are mixed together, gradually add the dry mixture in with the wet mixture. Let it mix for 5 minutes once all together. When all of the ingredients are mixed together pour evenly into each round pan and bake for 30 minutes.

When the baking time is finished test the middle of the cake to make sure it is baked. If it isn’t fully baked put in the oven for 5 minutes and check again afterwards. Repeat in 5 minutes increments should the cake require longer baking time.

Once finished let cool and trim the tops to make each cake level (remove the hump). Ice the top of one cake. Place the other cake on top and ice the whole cake (with the chocolate icing recipe below).

In a bowl mix together the following ingredients

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 1/4 cup whole milk
  • 1/4 cup cocoa powder
  • 4 cups powdered sugar

Once all mixed together icing is ready to be used, if there is any left over it freezes great!
