Everything You Need To Know About Taking Kids To The K-Days Parade

This year the K-Days parade takes place on Friday, July 19th to kick off  10 days of K-Days fun! While taking in the parade is a yearly tradition for many families, it’s also good to know all of the in’s and out to make the experience just that much easier!

Taking Kids To The K-Days Parade 2019

When Should I Get There?

The parade starts at 10 am however to get a good spot you’re definitely going to want to get there early. At least 30-60 minutes is a good amount of time. Don’t forget that if you aren’t sitting right where the parade begins it will start later because the parade has to make its way down the route.

Is There Parking?

ETS is always suggested because the roads surrounding the parade are shut down and ETS is free for youth  12 & under when accompanied by a paying adult. Parking on the best of days downtown during a weekday can be a headache – add in a parade and the spots are decreased and it’s also a traffic jam. If you do need to drive you can find a list of available parking spots for events here.

What Is The Parade Route?

This year the parade route starts on 108st & Jasper Ave and follows Jasper Ave until 101st. It then turns left on 101st and turns left again at 103ave. The parade ends at 103st & 103ave.

Should I Bring Anything With Me?

You’re definitely going to want to bring a few things to make your parade experience easier!

  • If you want some swag for the parade (bubbles, noises makers, etc) stop off at the dollar store to avoid those last minute purchases from costly street vendors!
  • Don’t forget the snack and drinks to avoid those overpriced convenience items and because kids always seem to get thirsty or hungry at the most random times
  • Chairs and umbrellas – dual purpose – sun and rain protection

Where Are The Bathrooms?

The Library on Enterprise Square and Edmonton City Centre are located closer to the end of the parade route and might be the best place to set up if you will need somewhere to go for a bathroom break while the parade is happening! Closer to the parade start, there are businesses that do have washrooms however it is likely that they will be open to paying customers due to them being restaurants and other businesses.
