Family Road Trip to Red Deer in the 2018 Ford F-350

Anyone who knows me, knows my love for a good road trip, so when I was offered the 2018 Ford F-350 to try out for a few days I knew that a day trip to Red Deer was in order. With a loose plan in place which included a place to go for lunch, we packed our bathing suits and towels (just in case), and grabbed some snacks and on our way we went.

Both Kris and I never use to consider a truck as a family vehicle, however when we knew that we wanted to purchase a trailer it became a reality. With more families owning trailers, and other recreational vehicles Ford trucks are one of the most purchased trucks on the market today.

Getting there with Ford F-350

One of my favourite features with Ford is Sync with Apple CarPlay. From using maps to navigate our way through Red Deer,  being able to connect our iPhones for some great road trip music, being able to control the climate on the drivers side and passenger side and so much more – this feature is life saver in so many ways.

Where we explored

Heritage Lunch Kris Ford F-350

When we first arrived in Red Deer our first stop was lunch. The kids were ravenous, and we had heard good things about Heritage Ranch! The burgers were delicious, and the inhouse made chips were to die for, and the grilled cheese and chicken fingers the kids ordered satisfied them!

Petting Horses Ford F-350

Afterwards we went for a walk to check out the horses! If you’re visiting Heritage Ranch, don’t forget to bring some carrots to feed to the horses. The love them, and the kids had so much fun feeding them.

We ended up going swimming at the Collicut Centre in Red Deer, which is an awesome pool. Filled with a large slide, dedicated kids play water area, a wave pool with a slide in the pool, and 2 hot-tubs, we’ve been here a few times and it’s worth it.

When we finished swimming the kids wanted ice cream (twist my rubber arm…). Most places aren’t in season yet (welcome to Alberta) but The Doughnut Mill serves ice cream so thats where we ended up. If you’ve never been – you need to grab some of their doughnuts too.

After that it was time to make our way home. The kids promply fell asleep 20 minutes after leaving Red Deer and slept the whole way.

The 360 Camera in the Ford F-350 is amazing

Checking your surroundings when backing up has never been easier with the 360 camera and backing into a parking space was a breeze. With a truck like the Ford F-350, this feature is a definite must have.

Room for 3 Kids

Ford F-350 backseat

Having enough room for 3 growing children is important. Each seat is a full seat size and the F-350 comes with tethers clips on each of the outside seats and top tethers available on all 3 seats making it possible to have 3 car seats installed if need be.

For my husband who is 6’3 – the amount of seat room was generous and also left enough room in the backseat so that he didn’t have to deal with Finn kicking his seat while driving. (Kids amiright?)

As always this was an awesome Ford adventure and we can’t wait for the next one!
